Six months into the Metallex division’s expansion plan, which has seen the rehousing of its sales office at the Top Tubes main Wednesbury site, the initiative is being hailed as a great success.

Divisional head Luke Strong

Luke Strong, moving from laser sales to overall divisional head of Metallex and Laser Products, credits much of this success to the improved and increased customer liaison following the relocation.

Being in-house, the sales team can now be more responsive and more reactive to its customers. On their part, customers appreciate this closer link between sales and production, and the benefits it brings, making for much increased customer contact.

Slotting machine

The installation late in 2016 of a new dual-faced tube slotting machine – another step in the expansion project – has further increased sales. “The multi benefits provided by the new kit have meant we’ve been able to approach new markets and increase our customer base”, says Luke.

Slotted tube manufacture, especially that for the retail sector, is a demanding and fast changing industry, often driven by changing fashions, so expansion and restructuring of the division continues apace. “With the converging of slotting, laser, bending and manipulation and fabrication” says Top Tubes MD Adam Bradley, “the division will look different again in twelve months time than it does now”.
