Brothers Adam and Matt Bradley – respectively Top Tubes’ Managing Director and Finance Director – knew that this was going to be a good year for the company, and they were right: Top Tubes has recently been awarded Express & Star Business of the Year in the SME category.
With confidence running high and the company’s 20th year in business to celebrate, Adam and Matt decided that this would be a good time to enter the competition. The news that the company had been selected as one of three finalists in the SME category, therefore, was not entirely unexpected.
On the 2nd of April the judging panel, comprising David Hughes, Express & Star Finance Director, and Andy Ball and Richard Griffiths of category sponsors Higgs & Sons, visited Top Tubes and were given a multimedia company presentation and shown an exhibition display demonstrating the manner in which Top Tubes ‘takes tube further’, followed by a guided tour of the Top Tubes site.
Champagne reception
Twenty-one Top Tubes staff attended the prestigious champagne reception and awards dinner held at the Ringside Suite at Wolverhampton Racecourse on 15th May. Compere Alan Dedicoat greeted the 400+ guests, saying “This campaign has been designed to acknowledge the very best businesses that this region has to offer. We are here to showcase some of the outstanding organisations in the Black Country and south Staffordshire”.
The Top Tubes contingent waited with baited breath for the winner to be announced, followed by much jubilation when the words “…and the winner in this category is Top Tubes” were read out.
Later Adam Bradley described the company’s rationale: “We have invested in tools and machinery so we can offer the very best to our customers. Our performance is second to none. Everyone at the firm deserves to win this award.” Matt Bradley too praised the company’s workforce “ We also invest in people and we have great strength in our workforce. We are all Black Country born and bred and getting this award is recognition of our manufacturing heritage. We are proud to be manufacturers. It is what we do and we do it well”.
